Update On The Middle School

Hey just so everyone knows. Pastor Brian and I met with the principle at the middle school. I wont go into a bunch of details in a bulletin but basically God has really set this up for the perfect opportunity. We have basically a huge oepn door, we have lots of projects to help get the school into shape and we also can come in anytime we want and help for lunch or just walk around the schools and make sure the kids are behaving and stuff. We also have her letting parents know about the teen center cause the kids don’t have anything after school like they did last year. SO they have no homework help or anything.

So basically if you want more ask but God totally had his hand over this cause everything we want to do is happening and we have a great open door.

If you want to help on any of the projects let PB or I know and we will let you know when dates come. Also if you are over 18 and want to volunteer let us know and we will try to get the info on how to do that. They really need the adult help to walk the school and stuff.

Also school doesn’t get back in tell the 8th of january so we have some time to plan everything and get everything set up. So it let us know.

We will also need people that can help with homework and stuff. We don’t know for sure yet but we might have to if your 18 or older require background checks if you are gonna help at at teen center or the school but we really dont know for sure so dont quote me on that.

Pride Is The Fall Of Every Man

Well I’ve been reading pacesetters by Benny Perez, And the last couple chapters has really shown about pride. It was really weird cause I never really realized how much it actually is a problem and that I actually was dealing with it. It’s always not so evident but yet it is still there and that is how it was with me.

With pride we usually start with following God and letting him do what he wants but it is when we start getting into it and saying look what I did or man I did really good with this. Doing good or being proud you did good isn’t a problem but when you start to say “YOU” did good and don’t acknowledge God for helping your or putting you there in the first place.

Here’s a quote from Benny Perez

Pride often blinds a person’s ability to asses the strength of the opposition

Now the enemy isn’t as strong as we think he is but he is smart and if we are being prideful and in our own strength he is stronger than us and we won’t see his strength or conniving self. The way pride comes in I believe in this since is that we start to say “Oh I could never do this or I would never fall into that sin” that is prideful and is saying you can’t. Thing is anyone can fall into anything and when we say we can’t is when we are most susceptible to it. It’s God that gives us the strength to help us and protect us from falling into those things but when we say we cant it is saying we/ourselves cant and wont. But we all can and this is where pride slips in.

It may not seem like pride at that time but it is. It’s small but it is a form of pride. Now there our forms of pride in and of themselves that our not wrong and those are

– The pride of new parents and the miracle of having a new child
– The pride of a little league coach as his team loses gracefully
– The pride of a wife as she watches her husband read to her children
– The pride of our heavenly father as he watches us mature.

Pride which is centered in God and our relationship to him is essential.

How ever, there is a pride which is rooted in self. This is the pride which nourishes rebellion, destruction, selfishness and independence. This is the “anti-God” attitude that C.S. Lewis describes in this quote

If anyone would like to acquire humility, I can, I think, tell him the first step. The first step is to realize one is proud. And biggish step, too. At least, nothing whatever can be done before it. If you think you are not conceited, you are very conceited indeed

From “Mere Christianity” by C.S. Lewis

This is the pride which brought down Lucifer and turned him into Satan.

And there is always a price to pay because of pride and a great example of pride is Uzziah in 2 chronicles. Which I suggest you find the story of Uzziah and see the effects of pride and the damage it does. He started out great and doing what God wanted then he let pride in.

The basic outline of it is that Uzziah decided to burn incense at the alter which wasn’t wrong but only the high priests were allowed to do it. He wanted to do what God wanted but didn’t do it the way God wanted it done. Now before he did it some priests came in and told him what he was doing was wrong and to stop right now. God gave him a chance to back-out before he screwed up. But he in his pride and rebellion ignored them and in his mind decided to do it anyways. He never did it but cause he did it in his mind and thought it and had the pride and rebellion it was the same as doing so. Right at that instance leprosy started to show on his body.

Uzziah never committed the sin but he did in his mind and had the potential to do it. It’s like the bible says also that if a man lusts over a women in his head it is as the same as actually committing adultery.

It’s not the action of doing it but the thought. pride and rebellion of doing it.

Now another problem with pride is we start doing what we want and when we do that we no longer are ourselves for who God called us to be.

The big mistake that Christians often make is trying to be somebody they are not. This is not only insulting to God’s purpose in individual deign, but can lead to big trouble if a person gets off into the wrong ministries. God knows exactly what he’s doing with us ~ Benny Perez

God has called us to be the way he has designed us and when pride takes over or comes in we start doing what we want and not what God wants.

Well thats all I got for right now but feel free to discuss and add more if you believe I missed anything if somethings good I will edit the post and put it in.

What’s Sufficient?

Well what seriously what is sufficient when it comes to our walks with God?

How do we know?

Well those are really common questions and difficult ones to answer in a sense. I think alot of us and including me at some point in our lives we decided its to hard or if we are going anywhere. I know alot with me the last week is that point in life that I have faced alot and always seem to forget how I get thru it and its the stand still. The stand still is that place were you try and keep trying but you don’t see results in your walk with God or get any answers. Yeah its tough but really prayer and persistence is really the only key that has helped me but I don’t think I have ever defeated it completely or ever will.

I think thru my life and most people will also, we will face that constant fight of persisting in our word and personal growth. But it starts at a point, the point when something comes in and takes that place. What that is is called an idol. We all face them. Your doing all good and stuff and then you buy the new latest gadget or something that captivates you and your time. That’s the point of the start of the downfall of “The Stand Still”. Now you can get it out of it as long as you remember to keep God first, But if you don’t and go awhile off track guess what? It’s almost impossible on your own strength to get back inline. So to grow you need God, To stay in God you need God and to come back from a fall you need God. I believe another downfall is to often we believe “oh my life is going well and God has been working good and everything is cool”. Well then comes the storm. You start beginning to put focus on you and not God. It’s not necessarily pride but its a change in mindset and you no longer see the work of God in your life.

To make the end of a ramble, if you start falling of track get God and always keep your mindset on God’s works not your own cause they aren’t your own. Don’t start going oh why haven’t “I” been prophesying lately or why haven’t “I” been having dreams. The focus there is on I. If we start doing that we start thinking of the power of God as ourselves without realizing it. Everyday we need to realize that it’s all God. If you want visions don’t ask why you don’t but pray to God and ask him to reveal you his visions.

Now for the part of what is sufficient. Being a christian isn’t being perfect but striving for perfection and striving for God and his works.

It’s the same with are studying of God’s word and getting to know him. We need to constantly be getting better. If somethings hard start small and get bigger. As long as we keep striving we will do what his will is. Now on that though don’t be like “Oh I read 6 chapters a day”, But then when asked you don’t know what you read or what God showed you. We need to read and understand and have revelation about God and our lives and walk with him.

As a human we will never be perfect, but as a christian we don’t give up. We keep striving for perfection and striving in bettering ourselves and helping others do the same.

Well I hope I answered the question through all my sidetracks. I was really blessed writing this cause it showed me alot of stuff that I didn’t realize tell I had to contemplate it to write it. It’s weird how God works sometimes =)
