Prophetic Guidelines

1. Prophetic ministry is looking for treasure in someone.

The price that Jesus paid on the cross determined the value of the people He purchased. God saw something good in us even when we were sinners. It doesn’t take a prophetic gift to see sin in sinner or junk in the lives of Christians. It does require the eye of God to see broken people like Simon(Simon means “broken reed”) and call them Peter (Peter means “rock”). True prophetic ministry is looking for gold in the midst of peoples dirt.

2. The gift of Prophecy is for the purpose of edification, exhortation and consolation.

a. Edification: to build up
b. Exhortation: to call near
c. Consolation: to cheer up

3. Prophesy in its purest sense is foretelling and forth-telling.

a. Foretelling: to know the future.
b. Forth-telling: to cause the future

4. Word of Knowledge:

People often confuse the word of knowledge with the gift of prophesy. The word of knowledge describes something that took place in the past, a current circumstance, or a fact about someone’s life. Sometimes when we prophesy, someone can mistakenly think that the prophecy was inaccurate because it is not something that is currently happening, or has ever happened in that person;s life. Pure prophecy is about the future. If the prophetic work lacks an element of something that has already taken place, this simply means that the word of knowledge was not something that took place in the delivery. A word of knowledge is simply knowing a fact, revealed by the Holy Spirit, of which we had no prior knowledge.

5. The languages of God:

a. Dreams: Daniel 2:31-35, Genesis 20:3, Matthew 2:13, Job 33:14-18

l. Circumstances: Revelations 3:8
m. Dance: Jeremiah 31:13
n. Prophetic Songs: Colossians 3:16
o. Spiritual Happenings: Numbers 17:2-8

c. Prophesy your day
