Cracks In Our Foundation Of Power

Ok this I read thru sunday night but my plans kinda changed on when i was going to post it but I decided its a good time to post it now after the blog post I posted last night on prayer. Also if you would like to see anything covered or would like to know some answers that should be in a blog post let me know I want this blog to be for you guys to grow with God.

Cracks in the Foundation – Steve Backlund

1. If the Lord wills

James 4-13-16

a.) The positive

This verse reminds us not to make decisions without putting God as the foundation of our priorities and decisions.

b.) There will be a crack in our foundation if we use:

“if it be Your will” in prayer for things that God has already declared are His will.

c.) God has called us to confidence in prayer by knowing His will about salvation, healing, provision, deliverance, etc. We don’t need to pray “if it be thy will” about things clearly outlined in His word.

2. All things work together for good

Romans 8:28-29

a.)The Positive:

When we turn to God with love for Him, with praying in the Spirit and with commitment to His call on our lives; we are promised that everything in our lives will turn out for good. This includes the bad things that have happened to us, or wrong choices we have made. It may take a while for a complete turn around to occur, but God starts the process immediately as we turn our hearts to Him.

b.) There ill be a crack in our foundation if we believe the verse says:

“All things that happen are good.” Unfortunately, many believe that Romans 8:28 teaches that. This conclusion results from misunderstanding of Gods sovereignty. If we believe that all happenings are good, we will also subconsciously think that prayer is pointless. We will never know what to resist (After all we might be resisting something for our own good even if it is sickness, lack, or tragedy).

c. Concluding thoughts:

Romans 8:28, is one of the greatest promises in the whole Bible. We rejoice in it because our God is able to turn messes into something good! We are careful however not to become passive and just “let life happen to us”, thinking that everything that happens will work out for good. That conclusion weakens our hope, and promotes a “victim mentality” rather than a confidence in prayer as God intends.

3. It is God who heals the sick, not me.

Acts 14:14

a.) Positive:

It is vital that we learn to give God the glory and give Him thanks through Jesus Christ for the great things (including healing) that are done through us. Self-exaltation and pride have been the downfall of many. Jesus said, “apart from me, you can do nothing” (John 15:5). Truly, we need to understand that our connection to God the Father through Jesus Christ is the key for divine healing (and all other kingdom benefits) to flow through us.

b.) There will be crack in our foundation if we:

Overemphasize Gods role in the healing of others and underemphasize our part in the process. Jesus told his disciples to “heal the sick” (Matthew 10:8). God has delegated His authority to us “heal the sick.” The biblical model for walking in His is not to ask God to heal, but declare healing over lives. Too often the phrase “it is God who heals, not me” is used as a form of “false humility” that lessens personal responsibility and decreases personal expectation for healing.

c.) Concluding thoughts:

Truly we want to become a part of a new breed of radical believers that has confidence “in the greater works that we will do (John 14:12), and who also are ravenously passionate to worship Jesus and give Him “all the glory and praise” for the great things that are done.

4. You did not have enough faith to be healed.

Mark 6:5-6

a.) Positive

1 John 5:4 gives us a key to walking in victory (which includes our health).
“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith.” It would be foolish to discount the role of faith concerning the advancement of Gods kingdom promises in our lives. Jesus frequently spoke of the power of faith in seeing healing manifest. One classical passage is Mark 9 were a Father implores Jesus concerning his son saying “.. but if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” Jesus said to him. “If you can believe, all things are possible for him who believes.” The man understood what Jesus said and immediately cried out with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”

b.) There will be a crack in our foundation if we:

Overemphasize the role of personal faith and underemphasize additional important factors concerning healing suck as other spiritual laws that need to be addressed besides faith (Forgiveness, word curses, sin, etc…), the need for perseverance and not complicating matters by making concluding statements about there being a lack of faith.

c.) Concluding thoughts:

Faith is vital and important for healing. We must though make a greater emphasis for celebrating faiths growth rather than focusing on its apparent lock in lives.

Promises of God:

1. I have supernatural ability- “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

2. I have supernatural answered prayers- “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 1 John 5:14-15

Core Values:

1. We owe the world an encounter with God therefore we are relentless in the pursuit of His presence and power both inside and outside the church walls. (Acts 16:25-34)

2. What we believe after we pray is just as important as what we believe while we pray. (Mark 11:24,; 1 John 14-15)

3. We see problems as opportunities to show how big our God is. (James 1:2-5; Romans 5:3-5)

4. Personal hope (the confident expectation of seeing Gods goodness) is to be a major pursuit of our lives. We believe there is hope for every person and every situation we encounter. (Romans 5:3-4; 1 Corinthians 10:13)

5. The power of life and death is in the power of the words we speak over ourselves, others, and every aspect of our lives. (Proverbs 29:18)

6. We motivate people through vision, a revelation of God, and the power of God; rather than by guilt, law or condemnation. (Proverbs 29:18)

7. God has delegated His authority to us to enforce Christ’s victory over demons, sickness and lack. Therefore, like Jesus and the apostles, we speak to mountains, to situations, and to sickness and disease. (Mark 11:22-24; James 4:7)

8. All that we do needs to have a “1 Corinthians love” as it’s foundation or else it is worthless. (1 corinthians 3:1-5; and chapter 13)

9. Because God’s kingdom is proactive, we don’t wait for things to happen, but we seek out opportunities for light to shine in darkness – being empowered by God’s love, sensitivity and wisdom. (Matthew 10:5-8)

Well I hope you got alot out of that as I did. I really got alot out of the core values myself. Well tell next time

Pray Into Action

This post is going to be on my study of prayer I did and God has showed me alot. One I know I need to work on prayer alot cause it’s not my strongest gift lol.

Most if not all the stuff I studied I got from the manuel I got down in redding so I’m using stuff from that.

Why We Pray

God has hand cuffed himself to prayer. From the beginning, he has made it apparent that he intends to partner with us on the Earth. Our end of the partnership is prayer. He requires us to pray in order to see his kingdom established on the earth.

Oftentimes we think, “well, if God wanted to do it, he would just do it. He’s all powerful;he can do whatever he wants.” But Jesus himself told the disciples to pray, “your kingdom come, your will be done{luke 11:2}, on earth as it is in heaven,” Implying that we have to pray that God do his will on earth. This is because God has hand-cuffed himself- has restrained himself – to moving within the realm of prayer.

Prayer ushers in moves of God.

The Welsh revival turned an entire nation (Wales) back to God in a matter of three years. Bars emptied, sporting events were canceled. An entire people were finding Jesus in the streets, in their homes, and with their families. The Welsh revivial was started by six young people who gathered to pray.

God always responds to the cry of desperation

There is a strange dynamic in believers who truly contend with the Lord through prayer for a city, a region, a nation, or anything impossible. Our feyes must be on who he is and the amazing things he has done. Our focus is on how good and faithful and powerful God is, and the things we have seend him do; our focus cannot be on what he has not done. This i in order to maintain praise in our hearts and an open attitude of worship. But while we live in the reality of an amazing, powerful, faithful God, we also recognize that we need more. We need to see him do more, we need more of him in our lives, we need to see him ignite our city with a passion for him. it is odd to be completely satisfied and content, and yet be completely dissatisfied and desperate. We pray pray prayers of desperation, fully knowing that he responds to the desperate prayer.

How to Pray Prayers That Do Things

The key to praying prayers that actually do things is to ask God what HE wants you to pray in the first place. “your will be done….” actually means that we need to be praying God’s will. So the initial place to start in pray is ” God, what do you want to do?” And then when he responds, you cry out for and declare into being whatever he told you. It’s a pretty simple arrangement. You pray what God wants to do anyway, and his response is” Oh! What a great idea! I was wantind to do that too! let’s do it!” A key part of that is being able to understand God when he talks. If you don’t know how to hear him, then you won’t hear the responses to your prayer of “God, what do you want to do?” and you will spend your life praying ineffective, unproductive, boring prayers.

So, what are some of the ways God talks?

First thing first: God is not human, and his first language is not English. He’ll talk with you in all sorts of ways. Here are some examples:

Audibly

Big Booming Audible Voice:

Voice inside your head
Your OWN voice inside your head
Someone else’s voice inside your head

Imagination.

Visually

Visions
Dreams
Impressions (behind your eyelids)
Imagination

Emotionally

Putting out your “feelers.”
You though you were moody… lol

Tactically

Warmth
Wind
Etc…fun stuff!!

Olfactorally

Smell

Others??

Language of the Spirit (coincidences)
the Bible (he’s called “the Word”…)

Proverbs says it is the glory of God to conceal a matter; it is the glory of kinds to search if out. God hides his word FOR us, not FROM us. It’s an easter egg hunt =)

He will change the way he talks to you so you have to search after him His ultimate goal is to have a relationship with you, so if you find a way that you “always” hear from God- a way that you “always” know it’s him talking – then you are turning his word into a formula to do things with. Do you ever have times when it seems like God isn’t talking? God is always talking (he’s called “the Word”) and he’s always faithful. But he’ll change the way he talks so you have to keep going back to him to hear what he’s saying. He will start talking to you in the same way over and over so you’ll start to recognize the difference between his voice and another’s, so you learn how to hear from him. But it gives him no glory to talk with you in same way over and over again like you’re a little kid, and it gives him no glory to talk to in a way that you cannot ever understand. He will change things up so you have to continue to search after him.

The majority of our prayer lives should be spent asking God how to pray. Then you declare what he said. So your hear from God, then you prophesy. Once you know what God wants you to pray, it does you no good to sit and plead with him. You already know that he wants to do what you’re praying for. So command it into being. The power of life and death is within the tongue. You can call it prophetic prayer, you can call it prayerful prophesying, you can call it declaration, but the point is that it’s pointless to plead with the Lord like you have to convince him to do something when you already know it’s what he wants to do

Quite possibly the strongest picture of revival is found in Ezekiel 36. God didn’t tell Ezekiel to pray for the dry bones. Ho told him to prophesy over them. Ho told him to speak to the wind.

This is also the best way to sustain prayer. Ezekiel had to prophesy twice in order to see the bones become an army. Sometimes we have to keep going after something in prayer, but that’s easy to do when we know that we’re praying what we already know God wants to do. We pray dreams on regular basis. They keep us focused on were God is wanting to take us right now and what he is wanting to see happen in our region right now.

Authority in Prayer

You only have as much authority as you submit to. Moses had authority in the battle against the Amalekites. Joshua benefited by it and was able to utilize it because he was submitted to moses’ authority.

God is cultivating within his people a culture of honor. What is your response to authority? Is it love? Honor? Respect? A person’s character does not determine whether or not you give them these things.

Iraqi POW’s. I give honer to a person in authority over me, not because he ins honorable or deserves it, but because I am honorable.

“Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.” What is in your heart will be evident by your actions and your words. This is also conversely true. You can begin to change your heart and your attitude by taking charge over your words and actions.

One of the most humbling things you can do is apologize to a person. That is also one of the greatest ways to humble and submit your heart to another person.

Praying for Other People

IT’S ALL ABOUT LOVE, SO HUMILITY IS KEY!!

Praying for Healing

Words of knowledge: praying with and without it just do it!

The Prophetic: Edification, Exhortation and Comfort!

No direction or correction

No mates, dates, or babies!!

No Thus saith the Lord…!

Jesus love people. That’s really all there is to it. His love ought to be obvious in the midst of prayer. When you “lay down your life for your brothers,” it means that it’s not about you in that moment – it’s about that person’s encounter with God.

Well I hope you got as much as I got out of all that. Now I didn’t take everything out of the manual just what stuck out and helped me and thought would help others to. So tell next time

Expectation Is The Heart Beat Of Faith

Ok last night God decided to encounter me and gave me a lot of good stuff that you will be seeing the next couple days on my blog. But this is the first thing he gave me that i want to start with.

Im going to start with some verses I want you guys to read and I will try to explain them if they need it. Then im going to add a cool list about expectation at the end that I hope will bless you like it blessed me.

Hebrews 11:1-3{NCV}

1 Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and knowing that something is real even if we do not see it. 2 Faith is the reason we remember great people who lived in the past.

3 It is by faith we understand that the whole world was made by God’s command so what we see was made by something that cannot be seen.

This verse is meant to show you what the meaning of faith is in a sense.

Hebrews 11:6{NCV}

6 Without faith no one can please God. Anyone who comes to God must believe that he is real and that he rewards those who truly want to find him.

ok this next verse is about moses. Now I know I have been in situations that spiritually I felt the same but I know physically I haven’t and if I ever am I sure hope God will help me to make the same decision.

Hebrews 11:25-27{NCV}

25 He chose to suffer with God’s people instead of enjoying sin for a short time.26 He thought it was better to suffer for the Christ than to have all the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking for God’s reward.27 It was by faith that Moses left Egypt and was not afraid of the king’s anger. Moses continued strong as if he could see the God that no one can see.

Ok I have been in situation I admit Im human and am far from perfect. The internet in and of it self is a tool that can be used by satan and I have had problems with it and I know almost every guy in life will struggle with it at some time. So this last week I got tired of it and decided anyone that is on my myspace list that has bad stuff or anything I’m taking them off. I dont want to worry about looking thru someones pics and having to bounce my eyes. Cause I can bounce my eyes but there is always that chance I wont so I dont want to risk it.

Hebrews 11:33-34{NCV}

33 Through their faith they defeated kingdoms. They did what was right, received God’s promises, and shut the mouths of lions.34 They stopped great fires and were saved from being killed with swords. They were weak, and yet were made strong. They were powerful in battle and defeated other armies.

Now on to chapter 12 =)

Hebrews 12:1-3{NCV}

1 We are surrounded by a great cloud of people whose lives tell us what faith means. So let us run the race that is before us and never give up. We should remove from our lives anything that would get in the way and the sin that so easily holds us back. 2 Let us look only to Jesus, the One who began our faith and who makes it perfect. He suffered death on the cross. But he accepted the shame as if it were nothing because of the joy that God put before him. And now he is sitting at the right side of God’s throne. 3 Think about Jesus’ example. He held on while wicked people were doing evil things to him. So do not get tired and stop trying.

I want to think of Christ’s example at all times and this is really a huge key verse that you need to live your life that way.

Hebrews 12:4-8{NCV}

4 You are struggling against sin, but your struggles have not yet caused you to be killed. 5 You have forgotten the encouraging words that call you his children:
“My child, don’t think the Lord’s discipline is worth nothing,
and don’t stop trying when he corrects you.
6 The Lord disciplines those he loves,
and he punishes everyone he accepts as his child.” — Proverbs 3:11–12

7 So hold on through your sufferings, because they are like a father’s discipline. God is treating you as children. All children are disciplined by their fathers. 8 If you are never disciplined (and every child must be disciplined), you are not true children.

Ok the rest of this verse was good to me but verse 4 struck me like a squirrel getting hit by a car. We struggle with sin and are tempted but we give in or let them control us. We are not dead and we need to quit living like it!

Hebrews 12:11-13 (New Century Version)

11 We do not enjoy being disciplined. It is painful at the time, but later, after we have learned from it, we have peace, because we start living in the right way.
12 You have become weak, so make yourselves strong again. 13 Keep on the right path, so the weak will not stumble but rather be strengthened.

Verse 13 I want to point out. We all have people that follow us and people that look up to us and if we fail they follow us if they aren’t careful, But when you get into church and start getting into leadership it gets even worse. If something is going on in church with people sinning in an area and you are to guess what your a leader make a stand and don’t do it! When we don’t do it it starts killing it off and others are going to follow.

Hebrews 12:28-29 (New Century Version)

28 So let us be thankful, because we have a kingdom that cannot be shaken. We should worship God in a way that pleases him with respect and fear,29 because our God is like a fire that burns things up.

Our God is like a fire that burns things up! I love that, I love God what can I say. A fire consumes everything so if someone says you can’t do that or anything guess what their right you can’t but God can. We should use every opportunity to prove God in situations when people say it can’t be done.

Hebrews 13:6 (New Century Version)

6 So we can be sure when we say,
I will not be afraid, because the Lord is my helper.
People can’t do anything to me
.” — Psalm 118:6

I love the second part of that verse. People can’t do anything to me cause I’m in christ. Isn’t it amazing the power christ has givin to us and how he protects us.

Hebrews 13:9 (New Century Version)

9 Do not let all kinds of strange teachings lead you into the wrong way. Your hearts should be strengthened by God’s grace, not by obeying rules about foods, which do not help those who obey them.

Ok if you didn’t get what this verse said. Pray that God will tell you what it says and read it again =)

Hebrews 13:17 (New Century Version)

17 Obey your leaders and act under their authority. They are watching over you, because they are responsible for your souls. Obey them so that they will do this work with joy, not sadness. It will not help you to make their work hard.

I can’t stress this enough. God has ordained pastors to be were they are at. They are here to help and same with ordained leaders. They seek the best for you and your walk with God.

Ok thats alot of scripture but read it over time. They are amazing passages and really touched me and they touch me in a new way everytime I read them. Well now we are going to get to the list I mentioned at the beginning of the blog =)

1. Expectation is the heart beat of God.

(a). There is no faith without expectation
(b). If your level of expectation matches the level of fruit your are seeing, you are very close to becoming comfortable in your supernatural life.
(c). If your level of expectation surpasses the level of fruit your are seeing, then you are giving God a chance to promote you to a new level. (you are giving Heaven a chance to show up.)
(d). The world is not looking for a new explanation of the gospel; the world is waiting for a new demonstration of the gospel.
(e). If we cannot be expected to demonstrate what we believe, then how can we expect the world to believe with us?
(f). All you owe this world is a daily encounter with God.

This list I found in my manual for a city taker binder last night and started reading it and really felt like I needed to share it so print that up or something and put it were you can see it everyday =)

Well I hope God did something in you thru reading this and if you have any questions or want to ask questions about God or anything don’t be afraid to ask. Tell next time

Much love ~ Jeremy

Digg It

Ok most of you by now know what Digg is on the world wide web. Basically it shows hot new topics and blog posts on subjects and new stories on the web. Well Digg doesn’t work with wordpress. So to make this work right now you will only be able to digg the blog in itself by clicking the link Digg My Blog in the links sidebar.

I hope that all of you do cause the more it gets dugg the more people notice it and will read. So thought I would update you on another feature I added for everyone to use =)

Getting The Most Out Of My Blog

Ok this Blog post is about how to get the most out of my blog with the features I have provided.

First off is RSS(Really Simple Syndication)

Straight From the wikipedia article on RSS

RSS (which, in its most recent format, stands for “Really Simple Syndication”) is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines or podcasts. An RSS document, which is called a “feed”, “web feed”, or “channel”, contains either a summary of content from an associated web site or the full text. RSS makes it possible for people to keep up with their favorite web sites in an automated manner that’s easier than checking them manually.

RSS content can be read using software called a “feed reader” or an “aggregator.” The user subscribes to a feed by entering the feed’s link into the reader or by clicking an RSS icon in a browser that initiates the subscription process. The reader checks the user’s subscribed feeds regularly for new content, downloading any updates that it finds.

The initials “RSS” are used to refer to the following formats:

* Really Simple Syndication (RSS 2.0)
* RDF Site Summary (RSS 1.0 and RSS 0.90)
* Rich Site Summary (RSS 0.91)

RSS formats are specified using XML, a generic specification for the creation of data formats.

The RSS logo is the little orange wireless looking logo you see on the right. Now you need a reader to read rss. Most web browsers have it but some don’t. I use Vienna for my desktop rss reader but its a mac program so I don’t know what RSS reader windows people would want to use lol.

RSS Via Email

Ok in the links on the left you will see it. What it is, is when you click it it will take you to a site to fill out a form and you will get my RSS emailed to you if you don’t want or have a reader. Now my rss feed includes the full post so you will get all my blog post. But if you want it to look pretty I suggest you read it on my website =)

My Feedburner

The “My Feedburner” link is a website that you go to to read the RSS feed on your browser without having to have a reader or anything.

My Twitter

The “My Twitter” link is a place were you sign up and make an account and sink your phone to it and you will get txt messages of your friends updates. Now my twitter is set to update you when I post a new blog post and the title of it. So if you have txt messaging I suggest you sign up for it so you can always know when I update.

Technocrati

Ok basically this uploads my new blog posts to their website and its a place of a bunch of blogs and people go on and search for blogs they want to read about and what’s hot in the blogging world. If you want to find more about this I made the header for this a link so you can click it and go to the site.

Now There will be more features coming soon that I want to implement and I will post an update when I get them set up. So for now use the resources I have provided and have fun, And most of all seek God in everything you do.

Much Love ~ Jeremy

Faith That Compels A Move

Today I’m just going to collect some thoughts that I got from reading through James about really going on in God and some about faith. Again I will be using The New Century Version. Cause it’s so straight forward and I like that.

James 1:19-25(NCV)

19 My dear brothers and sisters, always be willing to listen and slow to speak. Do not become angry easily,20 because anger will not help you live the right kind of life God wants.21 So put out of your life every evil thing and every kind of wrong. Then in gentleness accept God’s teaching that is planted in your hearts, which can save you.

22 Do what God’s teaching says; when you only listen and do nothing, you are fooling yourselves.23 Those who hear God’s teaching and do nothing are like people who look at themselves in a mirror.24 They see their faces and then go away and quickly forget what they looked like.25 But the truly happy people are those who carefully study God’s perfect law that makes people free, and they continue to study it. They do not forget what they heard, but they obey what God’s teaching says. Those who do this will be made happy.

I love from verse 22 down. It goes into how to live a happy life, And it really is quite simple but I think we to often a times we try to make everything we do with God complicated but it’s not. It says James 1:5 “But if any of you needs wisdom, you should ask God for it. He is generous to everyone and will give you wisdom with criticizing you”. It clearly says right here that its not complicated ask and it will be given unto you =)

James 2:14-24(NCV)

14 My brothers and sisters, if people say they have faith, but do nothing, their faith is worth nothing. Can faith like that save them?15 A brother or sister in Christ might need clothes or food.16 If you say to that person, “God be with you! I hope you stay warm and get plenty to eat,” but you do not give what that person needs, your words are worth nothing. 17 In the same way, faith by itself—that does nothing—is dead.

18 Someone might say, “You have faith, but I have deeds.” Show me your faith without doing anything, and I will show you my faith by what I do.19 You believe there is one God. Good! But the demons believe that, too, and they tremble with fear.

20 You foolish person! Must you be shown that faith that does nothing is worth nothing?21 Abraham, our ancestor, was made right with God by what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar.22 So you see that Abraham’s faith and the things he did worked together. His faith was made perfect by what he did.23 This shows the full meaning of the Scripture that says: “Abraham believed God, and God accepted Abraham’s faith, and that faith made him right with God.”[a] And Abraham was called God’s friend.[b]24 So you see that people are made right with God by what they do, not by faith only.

“Must you be shown that faith that does nothing is worth nothing?”. Let that sink in for a second its amazing. We can have all the faith in the world but it’s worth nothing tell we put it to action. So we can talk about all the good things God’s going to do and what he’s doing but until that faith compels us to action its nothing. It’s awesome to talk about what God does cause then it stirs everyone up around us but talk is talk. Faith should compel us to action. If we are not doing what God says thru faith we really aren’t doing a good job at all about doing what he says or speaks to us. I never really realized this point I’m bringing across here tell the other night when I first read it and it struck me hard.

James 2:26

26 Just as a person’s body that does not have a spirit is dead, so faith that does nothing is dead!

We can have all the faith we want but again if it doesn’t compel us to action its useless. If we let our faith we have right now do nothing then its just going to die and when it dies guess what its gone. Now God can give you that faith again but why ask for faith again when we can ask for more faith so we can do the greater things thru him.

James 3:4-5(NCV)

4 Also a ship is very big, and it is pushed by strong winds. But a very small rudder controls that big ship, making it go wherever the pilot wants.5 It is the same with the tongue. It is a small part of the body, but it brags about great things.

A big forest fire can be started with only a little flame.

Ok now we kinda change pace here a little bit, But after this is talking about the tongue and everything above it goes on to tell how we praise God with our tongue and we put faith to action with our tongue and speak things to life with our tongue, But then we turn around and speak curses, death, bring people down, talk about what non believers do in private and and make sexual innuendoes. I think we take our tongue for granite. Our words have more power than we think. I hear it all the time but when I read this verse and what it went on to say it really came alive to me and I really understood it.

James 4:1-7(NCV)

1 Do you know where your fights and arguments come from? They come from the selfish desires that war within you.2 You want things, but you do not have them. So you are ready to kill and are jealous of other people, but you still cannot get what you want. So you argue and fight. You do not get what you want, because you do not ask God.3 Or when you ask, you do not receive because the reason you ask is wrong. You want things so you can use them for your own pleasures.

4 So, you are not loyal to God! You should know that loving the world is the same as hating God. Anyone who wants to be a friend of the world becomes God’s enemy.5 Do you think the Scripture means nothing that says, “The Spirit that God made to live in us wants us for himself alone”?[a] 6 But God gives us even more grace, as the Scripture says,
“God is against the proud,
but he gives grace to the humble.” — Proverbs 3:34

7 So give yourselves completely to God. Stand against the devil, and the devil will run from you.

Ok I love the first paragraph tell bout verse three. It’s like ok we’re going to slap reality into you here lol. The biggest reason we are tempted is cause of a trouble of our own making, fueled by our wrong desires. I don’t think it gets anymore clear than that. We are tempted cause of our own sin. So when we say oh the devil is tempting me with this and I don’t know why. He’s not dumb come one he’s tempting you with your own wrong desires. Temptation isn’t temptation unless its going to be hard on you. It’s like trying to get someone that hates alcohol to drink tell there drunk, But that’s not a temptation cause they hate it. Then it goes on to say “give yourselves completely to God. Stand against the devil, and the devil will run from you”. So if you do that your inner desires are going to change. Your not going to be tempted by the devil to read your word, to pray or do anything that someone would do that is after the desires of the Lords Heart.

James 5:13-18(NCV)

13 Anyone who is having troubles should pray. Anyone who is happy should sing praises.14 Anyone who is sick should call the church’s elders. They should pray for and pour oil on the person[a] in the name of the Lord.15 And the prayer that is said with faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will heal that person. And if the person has sinned, the sins will be forgiven.16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so God can heal you. When a believing person prays, great things happen.17 Elijah was a human being just like us. He prayed that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years!18 Then Elijah prayed again, and the rain came down from the sky, and the land produced crops again.

Ok the power of prayer is amazing! We can do anything with prayer and faith. It reminds me of the quote I used from lou engall “people with jobs move people, People who pray move God”. Then there’s that faith thing again prayer with faith. See faith requires that we move.

Well I hope you got as much as I got thru reading thru James in a sitting.

Much Love ~ Jeremy
